“Officers of the MIA of Russia GA for Criminal Investigation together with colleagues from the Republic of Adygea detained a group of suspects in kidnapping the son of an individual entrepreneur from the Tulskoye settlement in the Maykopsky District of the Republic of Adygea,” said the official representative of the MIA of Russia Irina Volk.
In July of this year, wearing masks unidentified men in camouflage with patches of one of the law enforcement agencies of the country, threatening with violence, forced a 25-year-old man in a car and took him away in an unknown direction. Soon, the phone of the victim's father began receiving messages demanding a ransom in the amount of $5 million. Later, several flash-sticks with video recording were delivered to the parents' house, where the son asked to fulfill the demands of the people who had kidnapped him.
“As a result of measures taken by officers of the MIA of Russia GA for Criminal Investigation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Adygea, the attackers were forced to release the hostage. As a result of the operational-search activities on suspicion of committing the crime, a 28-year-old unemployed citizen was detained on the territory of the republic. Later the police detained his accomplices: one in Adygea, the second in the Moscow Region. From one of them the police seized a fake official certificate. In addition, operatives found in a haystack the car used by the offenders,” said Irina Volk.
On the fact of kidnapping, the Investigative Division for the Maykopsky District of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Republic of Adygea, initiated a criminal case on the grounds of the crime provided for in part 2 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In respect of one of the detainees, the court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of remand in custody, in relation to the accomplices, the issue of selecting a measure of restraint is being considered.
At present, measures are being taken to identify additional episodes of their illegal activity.
