“In the course of operational-search activities, officers of the Criminal Investigation Administration of the MIA of Russia GA for the city of Moscow, together with operatives of the Internal Affairs Administration for the Central Administrative District, with the power support of Rosgvardia, detained in Moscow two suspects in fraud,” said the official representative of the Russian MIA Irina Volk.
Earlier, the MIA of Russia Division for the Tversky District of Moscow received a statement on theft of funds. The victim said that together with his friends he used the services of an exchange office to exchange 1 million US dollars into Russian rubles. The operator, having received the bag with money, closed the office window supposedly to count the transferred bills and left the room through a reserve exit.
On this fact a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of the crime provided for by part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
“It was established that the defendants, without permits and a banking license, rented the premises where the operating cash office previously functioned. The accomplices of the offenders recommended the victim the mentioned exchange office as the one with a most profitable rate,” Irina Volk said.
With regard to the detainees – a 46-year-old and a 43-year-old residents of Moscow ─ a preventive measure in the form of remand to custody was chosen.
The complex of operational-search measures and investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident and detaining the accomplices in unlawful actions continues.
