“Operatives of the MIA of Russia GA for Drug Control suppressed the activities of an organized group, whose members were suspected of setting up two drug laboratories in the Moscow Region for the production of cannabis group drugs, as well as a developed distribution network,” said the official representative of the Russian MIA Irina Volk.
It was established that two men aged 35 and 38 who had arrived in the Metropolitan region from the Belgorod and Lipetsk regions rented a private house in the Odintsovsky District. In the land plot adjacent to it, the police found a hangar in which the offenders cultivated cannabis on an industrial scale using hydroponics. The necessary conditions for that were created in the premises: optimal temperature regime, artificial irrigation, illumination with ultraviolet lamps, modern ventilation and air filtration systems.
“As a result of the earlier operative-search activities, the police seized 228 cannabis plants, two two-hundred-liter barrels of polymer material filled with dried and compressed parts of this plant and 107 vacuum transparent bags with drug ‘marijuana’ prepared for sale. According to the preliminary data, the total value of drugs exceeded 5 million rubles, and necessary examinations are being conducted currently,” Irina Volk said.
The Investigation unit of the MIA of Russia Inter-Municipal Administration “Odintsovskoye” initiated a criminal case on the grounds of the crime provided for in part 3 of Article 30, part 4 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
With respect to the defendants, a preventive measure in the form of remand in custody was chosen.
