During the events on the bank of the Don river in the area of the village of Voznoy in the Tsimlyansky district, criminal investigation and police patrol service officers of the Volgodonsk Linear Police Division identified two unemployed local residents, born in 1970 and 1991, who were suspected of illegal catch of bioresources.
Transport police discovered and seized from the offenders two inflatable boats, stable fishing nets and 327 fishes of various species.
The suspects have been prosecuted on the grounds of a crime under article 256 (1) d) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal fishing (catching) of aquatic biological resources committed in a specially protected natural area”. Sanctions of this part of the article provide for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to two years.
