The duty-unit of the MIA of Russia Inter-municipal Division “Gagarinsky” received several messages from residents of the Smolensk and Moscow regions on the theft of property. Unknown persons penetrated into their houses under construction and country houses, garages and farm buildings, from where they stole power tools, household appliances and other material assets. The total damage amounted to more than 500 thousand rubles.
A few days later, the police received a message about a domestic-made car found in the forest. As a result of the inspection, the police established that the vehicle was on the wanted list.
The police conducted a complex of operational and search activities aimed at solving the series of crimes. As a result of checking the information received, the police established the involvement of three local residents born in 1972, 1983 and 1991 in committing those unlawful acts. It was established that the car found in the forest had been stolen by the offenders during one of the thefts. In an attempt to hide the traces of the crime, they hid the vehicle in the forest. The offenders were detained and delivered to the police division.
From the crime scenes, forensic experts of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Smolensk region seized items used by the suspects. During the genetic examination, epithelial cells were found on the seized evidence, in which a genetic profile was found that coincided with the genotype of the detainees. During the searches of the suspects' places of residence, the operatives found and seized a part of the stolen items. The rest of the property the offenders managed to sell, and spent the money on personal needs.
At present, the police established the detainees' involvement in 12 episodes of illegal activity.
The investigative unit of the MIA of Russia Inter-municipal Division “Gagarinsky” instituted criminal proceedings against the suspects, on the grounds of the crime provided for in Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”.
Taking to custody was selected as the preventive measure against the suspects.
The involvement of the detainees in similar crimes in the territory of the Gagarinsky district is being established.
