The Chief of the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate Mikhail Chernikov took part in the VIII International Congress “Organization of Road Traffic in the Russian Federation”. The event was held in Moscow as part of the “Transport Week”. The organizers of the congress are the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the interregional public organization “Coordinating Council for the organization of road traffic”.
The congress was attended by representatives of more than 40 regions of the country and 50 Russian cities, as well as senators of the Council of the Federation, State Duma deputies, representatives of federal ministries and departments, heads of higher executive bodies, public associations and organizations, and Russian and foreign experts.
Having greeted the participants and guests of the congress, Mikhail Chernikov noted positive results of the work on improving the legislation, technical regulation and standardization. A list of standards has been developed and normatively established, the compliance with which is mandatory in the organization of road traffic. Joint coordinated actions within the framework of the priority project “Safe and high-quality roads” made it possible to liquidate more than a thousand accident-prone sections of roads that were formed last year, save more than 100 lives, and save more than 3 thousand people from injuries.
The Chief of the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate offered to use the accumulated experience to review draft solutions in the field of organization and safety of the road traffic, which would not only improve the level of safety on the roads, but also optimize the costs of road activities.
Within the framework of the congress, a number of discussions took place, during which issues of organization and safety of the road traffic, development of transport systems in Russian cities and regions, efficient and modern management systems were considered. The participants of the congress expressed their opinion on the strategy of transport development in the cities of Russia, in particular, on the priorities of legislative activity and public regulation, the peculiarities of regional policy in this area. In addition, foreign experts presented their own experience in implementing large-scale programs of modernizing the transport infrastructure.
In the opinion of the organizers and participants of the International Congress, public discussion of existing experience and modern initiatives in the field of road traffic organization will create the basis for making constructive decisions in the field of transport policy of Russia. It was noted that the Congress has become a public forum that brings together representatives of the authorities, the expert community and civil society activists to work out proposals for improving the quality and safety of roads in Russian regions and cities.
