Officers of the ES&CC unit of the MIA Inter-municipal Division “Cheremkhovsky” stopped the illegal logging of forest plantations.
In the course of comprehensive raids aimed at decriminalizing the forestry sector, the police discovered the place of illegal logging in the area of the Golumetsky Forestry in the Cheremkhovsky District. Six people were detained at the felling site, one of which was the alleged organizer. He was a 32-year-old local resident who had no previous criminal record.
Two chainsaws, three trucks and about 100 cubic meters of pine wood were seized from the felling site and taken in a safe custody. As a result of illegal actions, the forest fund suffered a material damage amounting to about 450 thousand rubles.
A criminal case was initiated on the grounds of the crime stipulated by part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal felling of forest plantations”. The sanction of the article provides for a punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to seven years. For the main defendant in the case the court selected a preventive measure in the form of placement to custody.
