“Criminal investigation officers together with the Traffic Police of the MIA of Russia Division for the Sosnovsky District of the Chelyabinsk Region have identified a suspect in a number of property crimes, who during the detention attempted an escape in a Gazelle vehicle. To stop the “Gazelle” the policemen used firearms,” reported the MIA official representative Irina Volk.

During the pursuit of the vehicle along the Vahrushevo-Dolgoderevenskoye road, the driver did not react to the repeated legitimate demands of traffic police inspectors for stopping, periodically he drove to the oncoming lane, creating a threat to the life and health of citizens. As a result of several shots on the wheels of the Gazelle, the vehicle stopped. The driver, suspected of 5 thefts from garden houses, tried to hide in the forest, where he was detained by policemen.

During the inspection of the vehicle the stolen property was found. The damage caused to the owners exceeded 250 thousand rubles.

On this fact a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of the crime stipulated by part 3 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

With regard to the detainee, a 37-year-old repeatedly convicted resident of Chelyabinsk, the court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of placement to custody.
