“Criminal investigation officers of the MIA GA for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region backed by National Guard forces detained, at an attempt to escape, the offenders who robbed a jewelry store in the Moscow district of St. Petersburg,” reported the Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
Three offenders armed with things looking like guns and an aerosol sprayer entered the jewelry store at Lensoveta Street and, threatening the manager and the security guard, broke three display cases with a hummer and stole seven jewelry pallets.
The offenders tried to escape from the scene but were seized by investigation officers of MIA GA for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region who were on duty together with the National Guard in close proximity to the scene.
In addition, the policemen detained an offenders' accomplice, a 28-year-old driver, who was waiting for them in a car.
A criminal case was opened against the detainees for an offence under part 4 Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery). The suspects were detained under Article 91 of the RF Code of Criminal Procedure.
