“Special investigation activities of officers of MIA of Russia, Federal Security Service of Russia, and National Guard, resulted in detention in Irkutsk of an adherent to Islamic State terrorist organization forbidden in Russia (activities of the organization are forbidden in Russia) who was on the Interpol's international wanted list,” informed the Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
Officers of investigative divisions of MIA GA for the Irkutsk Region in the course of processing the investigative information received from the Administration of Federal Security Service of Russia for the Irkutsk Region backed up by Special Rapid Response Unit of the National Guard Administration for the Irkutsk Region, identified and detained in the Oktyabrsky District of Irkutsk a 30-year-old man from a CIS country who was on the Interpol's international wanted list because of his participation in activities of the forbidden international terrorist organization ISIS (activities of the organization are forbidden in Russia). The man managed to find employment as a worker with a construction company in Irkutsk, where he was found by law enforcement officers.
The court chose placement in custody as the preventive measures for the offender. Officers of the National Central Bureau of Interpol of MIA GA for the Irkutsk Region notified the initiator of the search. At the moment, an extradition check is ongoing; an appropriate decision will be taken based on the results of this check.
