Officers of the MIA Division for Lesosibirsk suppressed a case of illegal acquisition and transportation of sturgeon.
Within the framework of the operational and preventive measures of “Putina” campaign, operatives of the Division for Economic Security and Combatting the Corruption together with traffic police officers stopped a car.
During the inspection of the vehicle, the policemen found bags belonging to the 52-year-old passenger. In the bags there was fish (with a total weight of more than 60 kg) (sturgeon).
According to the results of the forensic examination, among the samples there were 4 carcasses of Siberian sturgeon included into the Red Book of the Russian Federation.
At present, the investigators of the MIA Division for Lesosibirsk initiated a criminal case on this fact on the grounds of the crime stipulated by Part 1 of Article 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to 3 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
