The Dzerzhinsky District Court of Nizhny Tagil started consideration of the criminal case on car thefts from city residents. The defendants in the crime are two natives of CIS countries born in 1990 and 1982.
According to the investigators, from June through October 2016 the young men had perpetrated over a dozen of thefts of cars and belongings from passenger compartments in Nizhny Tagil and Yekaterinburg. Financial damage to 13 victims totaled nearly two million rubles.
In the course of the investigation and search measures, the natives of a former USSR republic unofficially working at service stations became a focus of criminal investigation officers' attention.
On October 15, 2016 as a result of the operation meticulously planned by criminal investigation officers together with servicemen of the Special Purpose Police Unit of the Russian Guard, both men suspected of the series of crimes were detained red-handed as they relocated an earlier stolen car. The detainees were remanded in custody.
As a result of the investigation and search measures, the police returned six cars and most belongings stolen by the malefactors to their legitimate owners.
