“In the course of crime prevention operation ‘Putina-2017’ carried out together with colleagues from the Russian FSB Administration for the Khabarovsk Territory, officers of the Vaninsky Linear Division on Transport of the MIA Administration on Transport for the Far Eastern Federal District identified a resident of the Sovetsko-Gavansky District of the Khabarovsk Territory who had illegally fished for crabs. As was established, the 28-year old man had caught over 300 crabs of various species using fixed traps,” said the Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
The police seized nearly 2,700 crab limbs, an inflatable boat with a boat engine and fixed traps on the scene.
The citizen had no appropriate permits.
All illicitly caught aquatic biological resources were confiscated and placed under custody.
“The Inquiry Unit of the Vaninsky Linear Division on Transport of the Russian MIA initiated a criminal case based on essential elements of a crime stipulated by Part 1 Article 256 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” added Irina Volk.
The malefactor gave a written undertaking not to leave and to behave properly.
