Man accused of drugs smuggling to Russia was extradited to Moscow convoyed by officers of Russian MIA NCB of Interpol

“A detained in Finland citizen of the Republic of Lithuania Gintautas Burdulis born in 1974 who is accused of having perpetrated a crime stipulated by Part 3 Article 33 and Part 4 Article 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was extradited to Moscow. The Defendant was put on the international wanted list based on the request from the Russian MIA Administration for the Pskov Region in March 2017 and was detained in Finland in April 2017,” said the Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.

The reason for the criminal prosecution was Burdulis's attempt to smuggle nearly 30 kilograms of a narcotic to Russia. In February 2016, for illegal smuggling through the customs border of the Russian Federation, he packed the narcotic into 43 polyethylene bags and hid them into a niche of a truck shipping goods to Russia. However, the illegal cargo was detected and confiscated on the border.

The authorities initiated a criminal case against Burdulis and he was put on Interpol's wanted list. The accused man was detained in Finland. Today, he was convoyed to Moscow by officers of the National Central Bureau of Interpol and the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service.
