Aleksandr V. Romanov

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation – Chief of the Investigation Department of the Russian MIA, Major General of Justice

Major General of Justice Aleksandr V. Romanov was born on January 25, 1967 in Leningrad. In 1985-1987, he did his compulsory service in the Armed Forces. In 1989, he graduated from the Leningrad Special Secondary School of Militia of the USSR MIA. In 1996, he received a degree in jurisprudence at the Saint Petersburg Legal University of the Russian MIA.

After the graduation from the school of militia, he started serving as an investigator in the Investigation Unit of the Administration of Internal Affairs of the Moscow Executive Committee of Leningrad. From 1989 until 2001, he served in various investigation and inquiry divisions of the General Administration of Internal Affairs of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

In 2003, he was appointed the Deputy Chief of the General Investigation Administration under the General Administration of Internal Affairs of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

In 2006, he was promoted to the position of the Deputy Chief of the General Administration of Internal Affairs – Chief of the General Investigation Administration. In June 2008, subject to Decree of the President of Russia No. 944, Aleksandr Romanov was awarded the special rank of “Major-General of Justice”.

From 2011 to 2012, he served as the Deputy Chief of the Investigation Department of the Russian MIA, from 2013 to 2014 – as the Deputy Chief of the Russian MIA General Administration for the Northwestern Federal District – Chief of the Investigation Division, and from 2015 to 2016 – as the Chief Federal Inspector for the Kaliningrad Region of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Northwestern Federal District.

Subject to Decree of the President of Russia No. 204 dated 30.04.2016, Aleksandr Romanov was appointed the Deputy Chief of the Russian MIA General Administration for Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region – Chief of the General Investigation Administration.

Subject to Decree of the President of Russia No. 723 dated 28.12.2016, Aleksandr Romanov was appointed the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation – Chief of the Investigation Department of the Russian MIA.

He was awarded the medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” 2nd class.
