Aleksandr V. Prokopchuk is a graduate of the Kiev State University, specialization – Romance and Germanic Languages and Literature. Later he also graduated from the Russian National Tax Academy with a specialization in “Jurisprudence”.
In the 1990-s worked at regulatory and law enforcement agencies: Chief of the Personnel Policy Department, Chief of the Internal and Information Security Division of the RF Ministry of Taxation, First Deputy Chief of the General Administration for Security and Combating the Corruption, Chief of the Information and Public Relations Administration of the Federal Tax Police Service of the Russian Federation.
From 2003 – service in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Worked as Head of the Office of the Deputy Minister – Chief of the Federal Service for Economic and Tax Crimes in the MIA of Russia, Chief of the Legal Control and Organization of International Cooperation Division of the Economic Security Department of the MIA of Russia.
By Presidential Decree number 994 dated August 28, 2003 a rank of Major-General of Militia was assigned to Aleksandr V. Prokopchuk.
From 2006 Deputy Chief of the National Central Bureau of Interpol – Head of the Russian National Contact Point for Communication with Europol.
By Presidential Decree dated 14.06.2011 a rank of Major-General of Police was assigned to Aleksandr V. Prokopchuk; and he was appointed Chief of the National Central Bureau of Interpol – MIA of Russia.
Participant in military operations. Was awarded personal weapon, has government awards. Listed in the MIA Hall of Fame.
Candidate of Economic Sciences. Speaks English, German, French, Italian and Polish languages.
In November 2014, within the framework of the 83-d session of the Interpol General Assembly, Aleksandr V. Prokopchuk was elected to the Interpol Executive Committee.
On November 10, 2016 at the 85th session of the Interpol General Assembly, Aleksandr Prokopchuk was elected Interpol's Vice President.
