Leonid E. Gerbanovsky

Chief of the Administration for Security of Major International and Mass Sports Events, Police Lieutenant-General

Born on September 24, 1963 in Moscow. After secondary school worked as a lathe operator at an aircraft factory.

In 1981 entered Tambov Higher Military Academy for Aviation Engineering. After graduation served in the Armed Forces of the USSR.

From 1992 worked at the Federal Migration Service of Russia. In 1996 started his service in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Worked at the Passport and Visa Service till 2004. The last position there was Deputy Chief of the Passport and Visa Administration of the MIA of Russia.

In 1995 graduated from the Russian Presidential Academy of Public Administration.

From 2004 to 2009 was Deputy Chief of the Organization and Inspectorate Department of the MIA of Russia.

In 2009 was appointed Chief of “Sochi-2014” Center of the MIA of Russia.

At present – Chief of the Administration for Security of Major International and Mass Sports Events.

Participated in the Ossetian-Ingush Conflict damage recovery. Carried out service mission in Chechen Republic where he was Deputy Plenipotentiary of the MIA of Russia in the Ministry of Sharia State Security of Chechen Republic.
